Fernando Sorianello
Munich is a city rich in culture and history, and one of the most vibrant expressions of this cultural richness is seen in its thriving arts scene. This is where I, an industrial designer turned painter, have found my calling. My journey into the world of art began back in Buenos Aires, but it was in Munich where I honed my skills as a painter and discovered the beauty of Plein Air painting.
Plein Air painting, also known as alla prima painting, is a style of painting where the artist works outside, on location, in one session. This approach to painting was popularized by the Impressionist movement of the late 19th century, which aimed to capture the fleeting moments of life and the changing moods of light and color. In Munich, this style of painting has found a new lease of life as artists continue to explore the city and its surroundings, capturing the beauty and vitality of the city in their works.
Why I paint?
What inspires me is life itself as perceived and on location. My subjects are either live models or landscapes.
The way I paint
involves no technology, only real materials. In my paintings can be seen not only the brush marks and colours but also the experience of a single moment in time as long I painted it. And also important, I almost never paint alone. There is always someone else there. Other painters, models or just people on the street.
I am drawn to painting,
I just find it fascinating to stand before the subject and try to capture its essence in a limited time frame. Most of the time this is not easy but it gives a unique and very focused perspective. It's not only that I represent the subject, I also experience it. When the time runs out the work is done. And the art piece remains as a reminder of that moment.
Background
Industrial designer during the day and full-time/free-time art explorer in the evenings. I'm commited to developing a professional art career.
Born in Buenos Aires, a relatively long time ago, I have built a new life here in Munich. Meeting and painting with inspiring artists from whom I learn so much.
What it means to support an artist
When you buy a painting from me you are also becoming a subscriber in this artistic pursuit. So long as it continues, you can watch it develop, knowing that also your contribution made it possible. As I experience it, art does not come from only one individual.
